Meet Tom Lemon

Thomas Lemon is a prominent Indiana trial lawyer, a renowned mediator, and a leader in the American and the Indiana bar associations.

Tom grew up in Bloomington, where his father was mayor in the late 1940s and 1950s. After earning a BA from IU in 1963, he enrolled in the IU Law School, graduating in 1966 with distinction and was elected to the Order of the Coif.

After finishing a clerkship for Judge S. Hugh Dillin of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, Tom joined the Warsaw, Indiana firm of Graham Rason & Harris, ultimately becoming senior partner. He then became senior partner of the firm Lemon Armey Hearn & Leininger.

Before concluding his practice at Miner & Lemon, Warsaw, Indiana, Tom provided corporate counsel to the city of Warsaw and was also chief trial counsel to Zimmer Orthopedic Products.

Throughout his long and impressive career, Tom has established himself as an outstanding trial lawyer. He has also been a pioneer in mediation in the state of Indiana, training mediators and conducting mediation throughout the state.

A recognized leader in both state and national legal organizations, Tom has served on the board of managers,
as chair of the house of delegates, and as president of the Indiana State Bar Association.

With the American Bar Association, he was a member of the House of Delegates from 1991 to 1999 and an Indiana state delegate from 1993 to 1999. He has also been a member of the standing committee, the federal judiciary, and Chair of the rules and Calendar committees.

Tom is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. A past president of the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum, he has also served on the faculty of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. Tom was also named a Sagamore of the Wabash by Indiana Governor Frank O'Bannon in 1997.

Along with being named, once again, an Indiana Super Lawyer for 2008, Tom was recognized as one of the Top Fifty Lawyers practicing in Indiana today.

Tom has served as president of the Law School Alumni Association and on the Law School’s Board of Visitors and played a major role in establishing the Law School’s Alumni Weekend. He was elected to the School of Law's Academy of Law Alumni Fellows.

In a letter of nomination to the Academy of Law Alumni Fellows, one of Tom ’s colleagues wrote, “I have mediated over 50 cases with Tom and know he has outstanding intellectual skill, a wonderful sense of humor, is a fabulous lawyer and mediator, and has loved and served his law school and his profession with his entire heart and soul for over 36 years.”

Tom and his wife, Jo, have been married since 1962 and have three children, Lisa Chudy, Lara Lemon, and Doug Lemon, and have nine grandchildren.

Tom and Jo have been very active in Warsaw community affairs, including United Fund, Easter Seals Board, YMCA, K21 Foundation, Ivy Tech Foundation, Warsaw Community School Board, Presbyterian Church, Oak Grove Community Church, American Cancer Society, Warsaw Housing Board, Kosciusko Community Hospital Board of Directors, Kosciusko County Election Board, and Kosciusko County 4 H.

An avid and enthusiastic outdoorsman, Tom can be found hunting or fishing whenever his personal time allows.
