Meet Denise Page

Denise Page began practicing law in 1977 in downtown Indianapolis with the law firm of Hildedog, Johnson, Secrest and Murphy.

Initially she had a general civial practice which included business, real estate, personal injury, construction and family law litigation.

Some time later, she became active as an insurance defense trial lawyer, although she maintained a significant plaintiff's practice as well.

Denise has mediated and arbitrated well over a thousand cases and is a panelist for two national ADR services. Presently on the ADR Executive Committee of the Indianapolis Bar Association, she has spoken on mediation at seminars for lawyers, paralegals, claims adjusters and at law school classes. She taught law classes at Indiana Vocational Technical College and is presently an adjunct faculty member for the adult program at Marian College, Indianapolis.

Also a singer, writer and composer, Denise has written 14 operas for children. These humorous shows are performed for over 50,000 school children annually by the Indianapolis Opera.

Denise has written many musicals for the Indianapolis Children's Museum Guild, area schools and churches and has made two recordings of original songs for children - Play it Safe and Peace Is For Everyone! - the latter commissioned by the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Her new opera, The End of Forever, commissioned by The Schmidt Foundation of Evansville, will premiere in the near future.

Denise has also directed the children's choir, grades K-2 at her church for over 20 years - their rehearsal being her most entertaining hour every week.

Involved with the Bread N Bowl soup kitchen program, past room Mom and Girl Scout leader, Denise is mother to daughter Paige, who attends IUPUI and son Patrick, who attends University High School.

Her husband, Jim Caraher, is artistic director of the Indianapolis Opera, although his opera conducting career takes him all over the country leading performances.

Tennis is Denise's favorite pastime, playing on teams at Butler University. She spends time in northern Vermont every summer and attends professional and college sports events with her husband. She also enjoys reading, writing, spending time outdoors and watching football, basketball and tennis.

Raised on the eastside of Indianapolis, Denise graduated from Howe High School, Indiana University with an English major and the University of Notre Dame Law School.

Denise paid for her college and law school with such diverse jobs as swimming instructor at the Miramar club, sales clerk, waitress, typist, receptionist, law clerk...and lounge singer.
